Did you know that the first ever girl’s volleyball tournament in California, was in 1987 in Newport Beach. TeWinkle’s girls’ volleyball team season is around the corner. Our new security guard, Coach Michael, and our new P.E. teacher, Mr. Foust, are our 7th and 8th grade coaches.
The first game is on December 21st playing against Ensign middle school at Ensign. Practices are on Wednesday and Monday after school. There are 15 girls on the seventh grade and 13 girls on the eighth grade team.
We interviewed one member from each team, Nia Booze and Emily Ebergenyi. They both think that TeWinkle will win their first game, “We have been working hard during practice,” said 8th grader Nia Booze. 7th grader Emily Ebergenyi said, “We have many good players on our team and I think we will do well.”
We hope to see you at the games supporting our fellow Trojans.

What is Speech and Debate? Speech and Debate is a club being held in Tewinkle for students to develop speaking skills. Speech and Debate is currently being held in room 27 and Mrs. Kalupa is in charge of it. They have their sessions on Wednesdays, from 2:40 - 4:00 pm after school.
In an interview with Mrs. Kalupa, she said, ¨We do fun warm ups to get to know each other and to prepare for speaking. We also study/practice scripts to perform later.¨ She said that there are only six people currently participating. Anyone can still join but the sooner the better to get ready for the competition which currently does not have a date set just yet. Someone should join Speech and Debate to build confidence and develop valuable speaking skills which will physically and mentally help their future.
If you're interested in joining, feel free to go after school on Wednesdays in Mrs. Kalupa's classroom. This is your chance to develop skills which will help you in the future with your jobs, colleges, and to even feel confident and comfortable to speak out.

Have you ever wanted to join an after school club, but you just couldn’t decide? Well, then I have the club for you. Drama! Drama is an after school club that allows you to work in groups, act, have fun and much more. Drama can also help you learn new lifelong skills such as public speaking, becoming more flexible and comfortable.
The drama classes are held at 2:45 after school on Tuesdays in Boswell hall. In drama you do several activities and warm ups. These include improv, and acting out scenes. The activities and warm ups help teach you to work in groups.
The drama club is run by Estancia’s drama coach Ms. Marroquin. This is Ms. Marroquin’s first year as a drama teacher. She became a drama teacher because she always dreamed of becoming a teacher and she loved working on plays.
At the end of the year in April there will be a production of Mean Girls at Estancia. If you are in drama club you will have a chance to participate in the musical. I hope to see you there!
