Here is all you need to know about Michael the security guard here at TeWinkle. Michael was born on March 2nd 1992. He wanted to be a security guard because he enjoys working with kids. He enjoys hanging out with family in his free time. Another thing Michael likes to do in his free time is spending time with his 2 year old dog named Lyla. He also likes to make and listen to Hip Hop and R&B music. After school he likes that he gets the opportunity to coach 7th grade girls volleyball at TeWinkle Middle School. Before Michael was a security guard at TeWinkle he worked in the transportation department.
Something interesting that Michael experienced as a security guard is that, one of Michael's favorite things about being a security guard is building positive relationships with students. Being a campus safety facilitator has amazing benefits, such as being able to build positive relationships with students and having the opportunity of being on the front line of keeping our school safe!

Did you know that before Mrs. Burkhart worked for TeWinkle, she worked as a 6th grade teacher in Anaheim? She left her job as a 6th grade teacher to become TeWinkle’s new assistant principal at the beginning of the school year.
After many teaching jobs Mrs. Burkhart wanted to make a bigger impact on students. After applying, submitting her resume, a series of 5 interviews, and a meeting with the superintendent, the district thought that she would make a good fit for TeWinkle.
Before she taught, she served in the army as a medic. Mrs. Burkhart grew up in Anaheim and to this day she still lives there with her two children and her husband that she has been married to for 25 years. She started teaching in 2004 after attending Cal State Long Beach and Golden West. Besides the fact that she is the assistant principal of Tewinkle she loves baking and traveling to national parks. And although Tewinkle isn't close to her house, she says that Tewinkle is a wonderful school filled with amazing students and respectful staff.

Did you know that Mr. Shannon the Science and Avid teacher, taught piloting at only 18 years old. He drove B-727, L-1011, and a DC-8. Mr. Shannon got his commercial pilot license and started working as a 1st officer, then he was promoted to captain trainer. Then was a captain trainer to the 1st officers. He worked at Atlas Air. Because of his past job it was able to help him a lot when becoming a teacher because it was a more natural thing for him to do. He has also always enjoyed teaching people whether kids or adults and also passing on important pieces of knowledge.
The reason why Mr. Shannon became a science teacher because he really enjoys teaching everyday skills that students can use. Another reason is because of how he likes to teach math skills by breaking them down and teaching them in an easier way to understand. For example, he likes to include math in his science equations. He has always been fascinated by astronomy and enjoys teaching astronomy, geology and the study of the earth and its process. Although she has her own little family, she has her mom and dad and her two younger siblings as well. She also enjoys trying new foods and listening to music like Bad Bunny.
Mrs. Giraldo first started working here in October, but she's been a counselor since 2014. She's worked at Westminster, Fountain Valley, and Ocean view high schools. She wanted to start working as a counselor because she wanted to work with kids who were like her who grew up with immigrant parents and are Hispanic.
