Have you been watching The World cup?
Unless you're living under a rock, the whole world has been streaming the 2022 World cup held in Qatar. Teams from all over the world play against each other in hopes to win the beautiful gold trophy. This tournament is held every four years and has been played since 1930. Most players can play in only 4 world cup’s, after the four they are considered too old to be playing.
Players like Pele and Maradona, legends to many soccer players, played 4 world cups. Now players like the Argentinian GOAT Messi, the Portuguese beast Ronaldo, the footwork king Neymer, and the brick wall goalie Memo Ochoa have played their last world cup this year. The U.S team made it up to the Round of 16 but lost 3-1 against the Netherlands. Mexico had an unfortunate goal difference that had them eliminated quickly in the group stage.
The final stage left only France and Argentina to go head to head in an intense game. The final was played on December 18, 2022 at 7:00 A.M. Argentina started off quickly with two goals scored against France. As the second half began, France was given a penalty that Kylian Mbappe placed in the back of the net. About 1 minute after Mbappe led France back to a tie game when he scored a banger in the top bin. After the two goals France scored, Argentina was unfortunately unable to score. They went to extra time and Argentina started by scoring a goal before France quickly came back and scored another penalty. They continued playing until they finally ran out of extra time and had to go to penalties.
Argentina ended the game and were victorious against France. They won the 2022 World cup and were able to have Messi lift the trophy once more on his official last world cup.

All across the world Covid has died down together with the restrictions it brought. But in China it is a different story. Although Covid is also less prevalent in China the restrictions have mostly stayed the same.
China's zero Covid policy is exactly what it sounds like, a policy in place to completely eliminate Covid. Including closing every kind of border, negative Covid tests will be required to do mostly anything. If someone does get Covid though, they will be forced into government isolation and if it happens in an enclosed building the entire place will be shut down. Failure to comply with these strict measures will land any citizen in jail.
Covid is believed to have started in Wuhan city, Hubei province and it was very hard in China. The amount of Covid cases was so great that China started implementing these near inhuman practices. One of the main problems with the policies is that even though they can work, their covid rates were the same as many other countries' policies which gave their citizens more freedom.
Recently in China's Xinjiang region a building caught on fire, the building was on lockdown because of the policies. This lockdown caused firefighters to not be able to save 10 people. This incident became the last straw and completely blew the country into protests.
China has finally buckled under the pressure from the protests and began letting people quarantine on their own. Another policy China has canceled is mandatory daily Covid testing. As Covid disappears even more from the public eye, China will probably begin taking off many more policies regarding covid.

Have you ever seen a volcano erupt? Well there is a volcano in Hawaii erupting right now. Mauna Loa, the largest volcano in the world, is erupting again after 40 when it last erupted in 1984. Mauna Loa started erupting again on Nov 27th and it is located on the South central part of the big island, Hawaii, so if you're in town be aware. The people are safe for now because it isn't heading for homes but it was heading for a major highway but since then it has changed route. The only thing endangering people could be the air quality, the USGS Hawaiian Volcano observatory scientists who monitor the Volcano will let everyone know. Mauna Loa is so unpredictable and with the wind changes and its lava flow of 32-39 feet per second, they don't know where the lava will flow or when the erupting will end. Mauna Loa also has a risk of making the air toxic which will put citizens in danger.
Ivan Vidana Sanchez who just visited one of Hawaii's Beautiful Islands says he thinks volcanoes are beautiful but when he went to visit one it was smaller than he thought it was going to be. Damian Jimenez also had something to say about the volcanoes, ¨ They are not great and they can affect people's lives negatively.¨ They are a beautiful sight, but be aware because they are powerful. If you're going to be in Hawaii anytime soon, make sure to check them out.

Do you know what happened this Thanksgiving? There was a shooting on the 400 block of West Bay Street around 6:45 pm in Costa Mesa . A man named Rivera-Velasco was killed and four were injured.
The investigation shows that Rivera-Velasco was driving home from a restaurant with his family when his car hit Quevon Walker’s car. Despite having his son and girlfriend with him at the time, Walker is accused of getting out of his car and opening fire at the driver's window.
Walker is faced with multiple charges in the deadly shooting of 30 year old Rivera-Velasco. On Friday Nov 25 he turned himself in and was arrested. Police said he is being held without bail at the Stephen K. Tamura Justice Center in Westminster. Walker faces a maximum sentence of 90 years even up to life and is three strikes eligible if convicted on all counts.
The community held a kermes to raise money for the funeral. A kermes is made up of some games and always food. It is a why to help the family out with the payments for the funeral. This type of event is usually done outdoors. I hope the family of Rivera-Velasco can find peace this holiday season.
