Dear Parents and Students,
I am delighted and honored to be the Choral Director at Nissitissit Middle School. I look forward to getting to know you and your student better. Whether your student has never sung before or they sing all the time, my goal is to create an environment that will help all feel comfortable to experiment with their voice and be expressive in their singing.
This website will assist you and your student in various areas. It is intended to provide you with important information regarding the organization and expectations of the NMS Choral Program. Please refer back to it during the school year for clarification and review. Each Chorus member has the responsibility of becoming familiar with the policies stated in the choral handbook, as well as following them throughout the year. Should you have any questions, feel free to contact me at: lfrancis@nmrsd.org.
In Chorus, students will participate in a variety of musical activities. We will strive to develop our musical skills and our voice, as well as studying and appreciating many styles of music. Participation is crucial every day and is the primary consideration for grading. Also, written work and performances are considered into your child’s final grade.
Performing in a choral ensemble provides students with so much beyond a musical training. Students learn cooperation and teamwork, commitment and responsibility, as well as perseverance and self-discipline. They also exhibit improved confidence and self-esteem. I encourage you to help your child become involved in music in some way, whether it is listening to music together, taking private lessons, or attending local concerts. I value your involvement and support of our program at NMS!
I am excited to end this school year strong, and I am looking forward to what next year may bring. I will continue to update this page during the summer and throughout next school year!
Best,
Ms. Francis
