Component 4: Effective and Reflective Practitioner ... 60 - 100 hours time commitment
This portfolio entry requires candidates to gather information from a variety of sources about a class of students with whom they work and demonstrate their knowledge of assessments and assessment practices to effectively plan for and positively impact student learning. The portfolio will also require candidates to provide evidence of collaboration with families, the community, and colleagues and the candidate’s contributions to learning communities to advance student growth.
Component 4 has A LOT of parts. It is recommended this component be started at the very beginning of the school year in order to have ample time to plan, prepare, implement, collect data, and write.

Download this word document and answer each question in the scavenger hunt. Answers can be found in the Component 4 directions document, however, each question does not necessarily have a straight forward yes/no answer. Also, answers may be different for different certificate areas.
Once you understand Component 4 a little better, read the given scenarios and try to identify the Component 4 pieces (formative assessment, summative assessment, self-assessment, student need, and professional need). Then come up with your own scenario.
