The Month of Munch was a Central Region initiative introduced in Spring 2019, as part of a provincial fruit and veggie campaign, to promote fruit and veggie consumption with elementary students. It was set up as a challenge for students and teachers in grades 4-6 classrooms. Students were provided with frozen fruits as a snack option and had the chance to compete for points by participating in curricular activities and posting on social media using #veggiesandfruitnl. The Month of Munch ran for four weeks (May 13th-June 7th). Teachers were able to incorporate the theme of veggies and fruit into classroom activities and curriculum, and social media activities were enhanced with different veggie and fruit themed props.
