Do you see ways to make your school a healthier place to be? Does your school have an active student council? A student leadership program? Students who want to grow their leadership skills? Are there students who may be interested in pursuing a health-related career? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then TAKING ACTION BY STUDENTS may be right for your school!!
This program is open to grade 7-Level 4 schools in the Central Region. TABS gives youth the chance to decide on health related priorities, and develop an action plan to address these priorities in partnership with a teacher/school sponsor, the school public health nurse and the School Health Promotion Liaison Consultant.
Promote this program in your intermediate and high school.
Get a group together to discuss ideas and potential areas to work on in your school.
We are interested in hearing from you! Talk to your principal or teacher sponsor and then contact your school nurse or the School Health Promotion Liaison Consultant to discuss your ideas and next steps.
Training can be arranged as necessary for members of the TABS, including information on health promotion. Depending on your needs, this can include:
Helping you to learn more about physical activity, healthy eating, mental health and wellness and being smoke-free.
Exploring Google classroom and other resources.
Discussing other programs and people available to support the work of your team.
The school team gets to work! We can support your school team as you develop your Action Plan and get things on the go!
