When used appropriately electronic devices have the ability to greatly enhance the learning experiences of students. There are plenty of school owned devices at French Shore Academy to accommodate the current amount of technological usage in grades K-6. Therefore k-6 students are not permitted to use personal electronic devices during unstructured time (Breakfast, Recess and Lunch). Unstructured time should be spent socializing, interacting, creating and playing with peers. It is during such unstructured time that children develop essential skills (communication, conflict resolution, acceptance of others…) that are necessary in life.
Personal electronics (such as iPads, iPods, and tablets) should only be brought into the school if requested in advance by the teacher for student use in class during instructional time.
