Good Evening Families,

We’re so excited that Chartwells Eats will begin lunch service at your school with the pay-what-you-can program starting Monday, September 21.  This year, a new provincial ordering system has been introduced.

The system is now open, and parents can order for the first week of lunch service at www.schoolfoodnl.ca . For your convenience, we have linked the ordering website to our school's website as well.

Please find attached a note to families, along with a simple user guide for the system and FAQs. We've also included the 4-week menu for easier reference.

The ordering window will open each Thursday morning and close on Wednesday at midnight for meals to begin the following Monday.

Orders for Monday, September 21 must be placed by midnight on Wednesday, September 16.

Good Evening Families,

This is a friendly for all families to confirm your child's designated bus stop in the Bus Planner Parent Portal, regardless of whether or not your address has changed. We are aware that many students are waiting at stops that are not the NLSchools designated stops. 

Bus routes change from year to year, based on current demographics. Your child is not necessarily assigned to the same bus stop each year. Additionally, buses are only permitted to stop at the specified addresses on each route. According to NLSchools policy, bus drivers are only permitted to stop at these stops and nowhere else. This is for the safety of all riders and drivers.

Please ensure your child is waiting at the designated stop as indicated in the Bus Planner Parent Portal.

Good Afternoon Families,

We're off to a wonderful start to the 2026-2027. We were so happy to welcome so many smiling faces this morning and we can tell already what a great year it's going to be!

We wanted to send some quick reminders to ensure the safety of all our students and our entire Beachy Cove Elementary community.

Parking Lot Reminders

• Only bus traffic and NLSchools vehicles are permitted to use the laneway behind the school. All other vehicular traffic is prohibited from using that laneway. Please make sure you share this information with any other adults that may be dropping off or picking up your child(ren).
  
  

• We have many visitors throughout the day, which makes for a busy parking lot. Please drive slowly and stay aware of your surroundings.
  
  

• The laneway closest to the school is for vehicular traffic. We ask any families that are picking up students to wait on the sidewalk or on the grassy areas in front of the school and not in the roadway itself.
  
  

• Any pedestrians using our designated parking area are required to cross at the central rainbow crosswalk. We recognize it can add a little extra walking time, however, for the safety of all, it is important that cars know where to expect pedestrian traffic. This is important at all times throughout the school day, especially during morning drop off and afternoon pick up.
  
  

• Over the summer, NLSchools installed a new crosswalk leading from our sidewalk to the edge of the parking lot, which means there are three crosswalks all together. With new homes being built in the area, we are anticipating more and more foot traffic in the area. Please note that the two white crosswalks (on either edge of the building) do not lead to our designated parking area and families are still required to use the rainbow crosswalk to access that area of our parking lot.
  
  

• The central parking stalls (the two rows closest to the school) are designated as staff parking. All visitors are asked to reverse-park along the line of stalls closest to Beachy Cove Road. 

Medical Information

• Medication can only be administered at school with the appropriate NLSchools medical forms completed. Please note that a physician's signature is required for prescription medication to be administered at school. Schools are not permitted to administer over-the-counter medication.
  
  

• Forms for students with known medical issues were sent home in June. If you didn't receive forms, or if they were misplaced over the summer, please reach out to Ms. Hatch (daniellehatch@nlschools.ca) or visit our website to download the forms.
  
  

• If you child has a medical condition that the school should be aware of, please make sure to notify your child's teacher and/or Ms. Hatch (daniellehatch@nlschools.ca).

Good Morning Kindergarten Families,

We've had a great morning here at school and everyone has settled in nicely. We know there will be some wobbles along the way, but it's been a great start overall! We hope you hear all the fun stories when your child(ren) get home!

We wanted to let you know that your student will be coming home with information about RYCOR - the NLSchools online payment and consent form system. This letter will contain your student's unique student number, which is required for you to set up your account. Once you're set up in the system, it's fairly straightforward. Of course, if you encounter issues, please call the school at 709-895-2241 and we'll see how we can help.

We know that many of our students will require courtesy seating for the 2026-2027 school year. Please see the linked memo for information about the courtesy seat process and how to submit courtesy seat applications. Applications will be open tomorrow through RYCOR.
