November 13, 2025
Good Evening Families,
We hope everyone is well this cold and windy evening. We wanted to send along a couple of quick reminders as we round out our short week.
Recycling Blitz - Tomorrow, November 14
As part of their environmental focus, our Eco-Cubs (a Gr. 4 student leadership team) are hosting a recycling blitz tomorrow. Recycling can be dropped to the school tomorrow from 8:10 - 9:00. We will have a number of student leaders and additional adults to help collect recycling from the Kiss'N'Ride lane. We recognize that drop-off may be a little slower than normal tomorrow, and we ask for your patience as we all work to support our students in this initiative. If time is a factor for your family, we recommend parking and bringing the recycling to the collection area to avoid a potentially longer-than-normal lineup.
As always, we ask that you pay careful attention as you drive through our busy parking lot. If walking your child and/or recycling to the school, please make sure to use our rainbow crosswalk, looking for direction from our crosswalk volunteers. Please remember that recycling cannot be sent in on our school buses.
If families wish to bring recycling directly to the depot on behalf of Beachy Cove, that is always an option. Our account is set up at the Blackmarsh Rd location and our account # is 8952241.
School Clothing
Our online store is currently open for BCE school clothing orders. All orders must be received by November 20 and should be here in time for the Christmas season!
Families wishing to order school clothing can do so using the following link: https://www.iwpromotions.ca/bce . All ordering information, including item details, sizing, and pricing is available on the ordering website.
We encourage families who may need financial support to reach out confidentially to our school guidance counsellor. We are committed to ensuring that every student has access to our school clothing, regardless of financial circumstances. If you would like to discuss support options, please contact Ms. Danielle Hatch (daniellehatch@nlschools.ca).
Secretary Update
We wanted to let our families know that with the departure of Ms. Richmond, we will only have one secretary moving forward. As we know you appreciate, schools are very busy places with many things often happening at the same time. While we try to keep someone in the office at all times, there will occasionally be instances when the office is empty for a few minutes. We appreciate your patience, especially if you do have to wait a few extra minutes for a response at the door. If there is no one immediately available, it's because we're out helping our students and staff throughout the building :)
To help keep things running smoothly, we ask that you communicate any dismissal changes directly to your child's teacher before the start of the school day if at all possible. Thanks!
School Closure - Monday, November 17
There is no school for students this coming Monday as all staff will be involved in professional learning and report card preparation.
As always, thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
The BCE Administration Team

November 11, 2025
Good Evening Families,
Our student leadership group, the Eco-Cubs, are hosting their first Recycling Blitz of the year on Friday, November 14. To ensure they have a successful event, we appreciate your cooperation with the following:
Families can drop recycling from 8:10 - 9:00 am in front of the school, either in the Kiss'n'Ride lane or by parking and carrying the recycling over themselves.
Recycling can only be dropped off during this window.
Please be patient as we anticipate the parking lot may be busy.
Eco-Cub student-leaders (along with additional adults) will be on the scene to help keep the recycling organized.
No recycling can be carried to school on buses, families need to drop recycling off in the front of the school.
Recycling pick-up has already been arranged and will be transported to the Blackmarsh Road Depot.
If families would prefer to bring recycling for the school directly to the Blackmarsh Road Depot, we would appreciation those donations as well. Our school account number is: 8952241
Thank you so much for your continued support of our school community, especially our student-leaders!

We've also heard from our Kids Eat Smart coordinator that we accidentally used last year's donation list for the "Walk to Breakfast". An updated list for this year's "Walk to Breakfast" will be sent as soon as it's available.

Good Evening Families,
We hope that everyone is enjoying this beautiful evening!
We encourage all families read the September 10 Family Memo to read important information around routines and expectations for our entire school community.
Update on Courtesy Busing
While the Courtesy Seat Protocol does allow schools until the first week of October to review courtesy seat applications, we recognize the importance of these stops for our families and are working diligently to approve applications as soon as possible.
We have started approving courtesy STOP applications for stops on the same bus. Applications for stops on different buses cannot be reviewed under after the September 12 deadline. As decisions are made related to applications, confirmation letters will be sent home to families letting them know if the request has been and approve and, if so, when the new stop will take effect. Until a confirmation letter is sent home with your child(ren), your application has not yet been approved.
It is important to note that we can only consider requests for pre-existing stops along our bus routes as determined by NLSchools. If you have concerns about your child's bus stop, you can complete the PUBLIC INQUIRY FORM on the NLSchools transportation webpage. Specific schools are unable to add or modify bus stops or bus routes as determined by NLSchools.
We ask for your patience and understanding as work through this process, especially given the significant volume of applications we receive each year.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation,
The BCE Administration Team

Good Evening Families,
We wanted to let you know about some upcoming important dates and to send a couple of quick reminders before the weekend.
Our annual Curriculum Night will be held next Thursday, September 11 from 6:30 - 7:30. This year will be hosting a more informal "Open House" where parents and guardians can meet their child's teacher and connect with all school staff in a more relaxed environment. The intent of the evening is to give families the opportunity to ask curriculum and school routine related questions, while also having the opportunity to visit the many different learning areas within our school. This evening event is not a time to discuss student specific concerns.
Our Breakfast Program will begin this coming Wednesday, September 10. Breakfast is served 3 days a week, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. We would love to have as many volunteers as possible for this program to run successfully throughout the year. If you are interested in volunteering for this essential program, please visit our school's Breakfast Program Facebook page or reach out to the school directly. All volunteers will require Code of Conduct checks through the RNC.
The new Lunch Program begins on Tuesday, September 16. Ordering for the first cycle will be open until noon on Thursday, September 11. Visit our website for more information.
Early next week, we will begin approving courtesy seat requests for those looking for a different stop on the same bus. Applications will continue to be accepted until the end of the day on Friday, September 12. All remaining applications will be reviewed after the deadline.
If your child lives in two separate residences, please notify the school as soon as possible so that both home addresses are represented in Bus Planner. For liability purposes, students must be assigned to each route through Bus Planner.
Thank you so much for your patience and support. This has been a wonderful week getting to know our new students and reconnecting with those returning.
Have a great weekend :)

Families have until the end of the day on Friday, September 12 to submit courtesy seat applications for the 2025-2026 school year. Once we have all applications submitted, we will work through the approval process as quickly as possible.

Re: RYCOR Courtesy Seat Issue Resolved (Hopefully!)
Good Evening Families,
We are happy to report that the RYCOR Courtesy Seat Application is up and running. We have over 70 families that have been able to submit the form online so we're hopeful the issue is resolved. If you are still experiencing issues, please call the school at 709-895-2241.
Please note that applications are open until Friday, September 12. We hope to start approving applications for a different stop on the same bus in the next day or so. Applications requesting a stop on a different bus will not be reviewed until after September 12. Don't forget that when a courtesy seat is approved for a different bus, the original seat for the same time of day is relinquished for the year as per the NLSchools Courtesy Seat protocol.
If you have any additional questions or concerns, please let us know.

Re: RYCOR Courtesy Seat Application Update and Other Updates
Good Evening Families,
Thank you for a wonderful start to the 2025-2026 school year.
Please see the family memo to the right for an update to the Courtesy Seat Application on RYCOR as we have been made aware there is a technical glitch in the form. We'll be looking further into this tomorrow and will update you via email, text, and our website once the issue has been resolved. We apologize for any inconvenience. As a reminder, applications will remain open until Friday, September 12.
Also, we'd like to let families know that ordering for our school lunch program is now available online on the Chartwells website. Additional information about the program will be sent home in a separate communication tomorrow. The first ordering window will be open from now until 12:00 pm on Thursday, September 11.
Have a wonderful evening. We're looking forward to seeing everyone again tomorrow!

Re: Online Forms
Good Morning Families,
We are getting emails wondering about the online forms though RYCOR. Our secretaries are finalizing these forms today and they should all be accessible by the end of the day. Thank you for your patience as we settle into a new year.
Please note that if you are applying for a courtesy seat this year, including a different stop on the same bus, please complete the courtesy seat application form in RYCOR. Families have until the end of the day on Friday, September 12 to submit courtesy seat applications for the 2025-2026 school year. Once we have all applications submitted, we will work through the approval process as quickly as possible.
Have a wonderful day,
The BCE Administration Team

Re: Medical Protocol Information
Happy First Day of September!
We hope you have been enjoying a relaxing Labour Day weekend.
For those families with students that might require prescribed medications to be administered at school (including Epipens and puffers), please read the attached PDF for important information, including the necessary forms to be completed. School staff can only administer prescribed medications once the necessary forms have been completed. Please note that this also applies should a student require antibiotics or other short-term prescribed medications. You can also access this information on our website.
School staff is unable to administer over-the-counter medications.
