This study allowed us to assimilate some notions on air conditioning; in particular the thermodynamic quantities characterizing humid air, the psychrometric diagram and the measurement of temperature and humidity. On the other hand, we applied these theoretical notions to the experimental study of a humidifier installed in amphitheater 8 of the Faculty of Science Samlaliya, UCA. We have measured temperature and humidity to determine the performance of this humidifier under varying climatic conditions.
We have found that the humidifier causes a temperature drop of 3 to 7 ° C depending on the outdoor climatic conditions with an acceptable relative humidity (of the order of 50-60%). The power consumption of this humidifier is very low compared to that of a conventional air conditioning system.
However, the cooling power of this humidifier is very variable and very much depends on external climatic conditions. Indeed, its effectiveness is great if it is hot and dry. This requires automatic control so that the system can stop and start from a temperature and relative humidity threshold. In addition this humidifier has a disturbing noise for the occupants of the classroom which imposes acoustic insulation.
