Thermal Science laboratory in the department is one of the major facilities available in thermal engineering. One UG lab, PG lab and research lab are currently running. The major equipments available include, High Speed Camera, Thermal Conductivity Apparatus, Combustion Laboratory Unit with Oil Burner, Fuel Cell Experiment Test Rig, Unsteady Heat Transfer Unit, Film and Dropwise Condensation Unit, Combined Convection and Radiation Apparatus, AC Test Rig, Cold Filter Plugging Point Apparatus, Schlieren visualization equipment, PC based Electrolyzer cum Fuel cell Test Setup, Fuel Cell Experiment Test Rig, Anechoic Chamber with open jet Wind Tunnel, Smoke flow visualization equipment etc.

With the support of MHRD, DST-FIST, SERB and TEQIP funding by Govt. of India, KSCSTE, DoECC funding by Govt. of Kerala, Thermal Science laboratory offers theory and practical courses/research in these emerging areas. Different externally funded projects are ongoing with the aid of various funding agencies. Various Doctoral and Master level research works in heat transfer, combustion, biodiesel and aero acoustics…… are undergoing at Thermal Science laboratory. Students of UG, PG and PhD are doing projects in Thermal Science laboratories utilizing these facilities in an extensive manner, which helps them to familiarize with the latest developments in Thermal Science.
