NISD Classrooms follow the Workshop Model.
A typical class period will be broken down into the workshop components.
Opening: You will conduct the opening of the lesson to give instructions, model expectations or examples and answer student's questions regarding the assignment. There may be a brief teaching period in which you are delivering content as well.
Work Period: Students will be practicing skills, gathering information, working independently or in groups. During this period, you should be circulating and assisting with questions or students that are struggling in the work. Consider having students that are struggling work with another student to provide assistance.
Closing: Closings are often student led. Students should be able to share their work and learning with each other. Consider having students share in small groups and having several students share with the whole group.
