SEPTEMBER 7

We Got #Goals

Progress reports are already going out this week! Teaching and learning is happening throughout this building. We are on a mission and we got goals! All of us have had discussion in our departments, as we continue to build momentum, of top 2-3 things happening in our classrooms (look-fors) throughout the building. We are on a mission and working toward our campus goal(s). Just so you know... here's what's going on in our classes, described by your department heads!

In ELA: 1. Grade level teachers are consistently covering the same topics/standards. Texts may vary, but not standards and topics. 2. Students are having academic discussions and making connections to texts read in class (text to world, self, text, etc.).

In Science: Literacy in science- annotating texts, writing, etc. and ADI and other lab days- looking at using the ADI strategy and general management of materials and student activities during labs.

In Social Studies: Word Walls in each of our rooms and how each of us present them, ideas for how we can be more efficient with our lessons to ensure we are hitting the items we need to without leaving students behind.

In Fine Arts: Student centered learning, student engagement, instructional differentiation.

In Math: Higher-level questioning, scaffolding, student-teacher relationship, student engagement, class culture, kids doing vs teacher doing, pacing

We are well on our way to crushing our goals and ALL in- cultivating a culture of literacy and academic growth in all content areas!

Let's make it a great week!

From The Counselors

Teachers/Staff,

To streamline communication and ensure schedule changes are made in a timely manner, we are going to use one common form for all schedule changes.

This includes:

· Changes following an ARD meeting

· Changes due to making a team sport

· Changes due to advancing in performing arts

The only EXCEPTION is movement between Honors/On-level in a core subject. For these changes, please email the student’s counselor directly so that we can look at data together. The Honors Add/Drop Form will then be used with portions completed by student, parent, and teacher.

We have added the link to this campus wide SCHEDULE CHANGE FORM to our Adams Playbook for easy access.
