April 25
April 25
It's the last week of April. Let's keep focus and momentum toward ending a stellar 4th quarter. In sports terms, a lot can happen in the last quarter to shift the game in our favor.
4th Quarter is the time to:
*Keep engagement high with impactful lessons
*Make learning meaningful and relevant
*Communicate, communicate, communicate your expectations and activate the village when needed, contact parents for support and engagement, and to celebrate student individual successes!
*Remember every day matters. Solidify and cement the lasting impressions of you and your class that will last forever with your students.
*Enjoy Putting in All The Work- time is fleeting and you will be sending your kids away for summer in a few short weeks.
Have a great week- Activate Your Beast Mode!

During your TTESS EOY conference, goals for next year may be discussed, along with plans for summer learning as agreed upon with your TTESS appraiser. NISD Professional Learning website is updated with summer opportunities, along with the dates for 22-23. Flex Day forms should be turned in to your TTESS appraiser or Matrice (mailbox) and is a part of End Of Year Check Out.
We have had a literacy focus on our campus for the last few years. We want our students to learn to read for pleasure instead of only assignments and that is what we want to encourage our staff to do as well! We will be doing a staff book study for 6 flex hours this summer. You will need to fill out this Google form and pick one of the 9 book options. On the form is a book trailer and summary of each. Please fill out the form with your choice by May 13.
Please send this letter through email to the students you picked for your awards so families can put the date on the calendar. We normally just say it's a surprise so students don't know what award they are getting. Ask K. Pierce if you have any questions. Awards Letter
End of Year Awards - Please fill out the spreadsheet below with your awards for your class.
Awards Criteria:
· Pick 2 students per prep that you teach – Ex: I teach Pre-Algebra and Algebra so I pick 4 students total, 2 for each prep
· One Girl and one Boy per prep
· Please have names in by May 2nd
· These students are your best overall - not always just highest average – your discretion
· Tabs at the bottom tell you which grade level. There are also 3 tabs at the end where you can nominate our special awards
o Top Lion Awards - one girl and one boy per grade level that exemplifies AMS core values.
o Mr. and Ms. Adams – 8th grade students only – Most outstanding all around student
o Principal’s Award - The Principal’s Award is voted on each year by the faculty for the student(s) that have displayed not only high academic standards, but also leadership qualities and citizenship that make him/her a model.
As you add names, please be careful to only type beside your name and do not delete other teachers names. It is a live document so please be careful.

Thursday -ROAR Day

In honor of World Password Day that is coming up, we are asking all secondary students who still have their original NISD password, to change it to something more secure. Students can change their password by using the process as outlined in this video or the instructions on this poster. Additionally, we have pushed a notification in the portal. Another great strategy is for campuses to share this information during campus announcements. Any student who has not changed their password by April 27, will be asked to change it when they log in that day.
