We continue to move and groove with any challenge thrown our way -whether it be a TikTok or hot chip challenge. Thank you for your vigilance and intentionality with supporting students and taking care of our building. As of last week, to my knowledge the most "devious lick" we saw were doorstoppers. There is another challenge some students have engaged in is the hot chip challenge where they taste what is believed to be the "hottest potato chip" on earth. There were a couple minor side effects that Nurse Brewster addressed. Please keep an eye out and intervene if you see such behavior. Students should not share food or drinks, and particularly eat food items having no idea whatsoever what may be in it. Just a heads up as we continue to respond to adolescent behavior while teaching and learning all the ways we encourage and promote strong character and academic excellence. When things like this come up- though it can be quite distracting, we have to remind ourselves MAJORITY of our students are making and will continue making good choices. Let's seek ways to acknowledge, notice, and highlight when students are doing something good. There are more good things happening than foolishness- I promise! Let's look for the good this week. I don't know where I heard this quote, but for whatever reason, it has been stuck in my mind and psyche for years. It goes like this- "You get what you focus on, so you may as well focus on what you want!" I want to have a good week, so I choose to focus on good things around me (and just handle/manage the foolery). Join the fun!
