Technology Integrated Unit project

Technology integrating is important for our 21st century learners. This lesson shows how you can adapt any lesson from the curriculum standards and integrate useful and powerful technology to enhance student learning. This particular lesson also allows parents a window into their child's learning during the school day!

Proposal

For the topic of my technology integrated unit I will use SeeSaw, a digital online portfolio that students can access using iPads, Chromebooks, or computers. For this lesson first grade students will be asked to read a book from their personal book box. Students will then use the SeeSaw portfolio activity to create their own book review of the book they have read. Students will share their opinion of the book and who they would recommend the book to. Using SeeSaw follows the pedagogy of constructivism, where students are asked to use their prior knowledge and build and expand on their knowledge through reflecting. By using this technology students are sharing opinions and writing skills by using this technology source. To expand on this lesson, students may also create a QR code of themselves reading the book they have reviewed. These QR codes can be placed in the room as a shared reading tool.
