Each year parents are surveyed on various components of Northwest ISD. Every year each campus is asked to select a section they can improve on. Looking at the data most numbers seem fair strong, but there is always room for improvement. Selecting the volunteering at my child's school has declined and numbers will most likely reflect that on the 2019-2020 survey. I propose that the library can provide solutions to this problem.
Creating programs in your school to involve families is crucial. First of all, it’s one way to bridge the gap between home and school. Parents, grandparents, and even older siblings are always welcomed to be a guest readers. Readers need to have good reading models in their lives and it is so impactful to have a family member share its importance, too. It also allows family to invest in their child’s school day and share in this unique experience, ultimately making the child feel special.
