People are at the heart of research delivery, and this is no better demonstrated than by our Agile Research Delivery Team.
Most of our team work in participant-facing roles, recruiting participants and being the main point-of-contact for those taking part in one of many studies that we deliver. Our feedback from participants really demonstrates the difference that staff make. It's our colleagues' compassion and enthusiasm that shapes the experience of taking part in research.
This team also play an important role in bringing research to new groups of people, and often people who have not had the opportunities to take part in research before. The Agile Research Delivery Team will often work in organisations and settings that are new to research or who don't offer it regularly. This means that we're able to offer the benefits of research - the hope, the personal autonomy, the legacy, the chance to be part of cutting-edge discoveries - to even more people, no matter where they live or how they access health and care.
The Agile Research Delivery Team is a flexible, multi-disciplinary team who support the delivery of NIHR portfolio research studies across a range of health and care specialties and settings, with a focus on supporting research in out of hospital settings.
The team is made of research nurses, midwives, allied health professionals, clinical research practitioners, and clinical trial assistants.
Where do the team work?
Working across the South West Central region, the team support various organisations to deliver research, including GP surgeries, pharmacies, schools, hospices and care homes.
Where is the team based?
The teams mainly work out-and-about at different locations as they complement and enable the existing research infrastructure in the region. We have teams based in both Bristol and Bournemouth so that we can cover the breadth of the South West Central region.
Some of our recent successes
The team recently provided outstanding support to the AvonCAP GP2 Study, including providing input on how the study could be efficiently delivered, helping with translations of study documents and recruiting participants whose first language is not English. The team's support contributed to the screening of over 52,000 notes and receiving consent from over 4,200 participants.
The LIFT Study is a social care study looking at training for professionals who support care leavers. Without involvement from the team the study wouldn't have had the resources to meet the required milestones and recruit the number of participants needed. Expertise from the team proved invaluable in ensuring a high standard of research delivery.
