What are Service Support Costs

Service Support Costs (SSC) are payments made to practices that participate in research. They are paid to back fill the time taken to conduct research and ensure that those doing research are not financially penalised.

How are SSC's worked out?

Our research facilitation team are charged with ensuring these are correctly calculated. All rates of pay are determined by the DoH and what constitutes a payment is dictated by the Attributing the costs of health and social care Research and Development (AcoRD) guidelines written and revised by the DoH in partnership with NHS England.
