The RDN Primary Care National Specialty Group identified that using effective health informatics in GP clinical systems was a facilitator for GP engagement with and delivery of NIHR RDN supported research in busy primary care settings.
Historically each study site would create their own health informatics. This process created inconsistent quality of health informatics, as well as being time consuming and costly. It may have also involved installation of software in GP systems which is both costly and incurs risk of third party access to all patient data.
Health Informatics are developed by RRDN staff and partner GP practices in consultation with study teams. These Health Informatics are then shared across the RDN and made available for participating study sites (GP practices) to download and use for study delivery.
The PRIDES service offers a safe and effective method for developing and sharing Health Informatics.
Health Informatics (HIs) development is at the heart of the PRIDES offer. Our HIs are developed by experts in our RRDNs and GP partners. They are then tested, quality assured and shared nationally.
