Rijisha T V (M.Des. LAD 2018)- adapted her graduation project -Project Title: Bejewelled Lifestyle Designed the ring The Touch of Ami” that bagged the Guinness World record for the ring . The ring's design is inspired by pink oyster mushrooms and is encrusted with 24,679 natural diamonds,The Name Ami means immortality; the concept is that the ring wishes immortality to the wearer.
Saksham Panda, from the M.Des LAD 2018 batch, adapted his graduation project into a research paper titled "Service Design for Inclusion and Accessibility at Higher Education Institutes in India." Saksham presented this paper at the prestigious ServDes 2023 conference in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, held from July 11 to 14 2023. The conference, organized by Coppe-UFRJ, DAD/PUC-Rio, and Livework, is a leading platform for service design and innovation.
Sonika Pallouru (M.Des. LAD 2019) adapted her graduation project titled "Dungwood"—a sustainable building material made from cow dung. The project has garnered widespread recognition, including being displayed twice at Dutch Design Week, where it received positive feedback from visitors and attracted interest from potential investors. It was also exhibited at the 'Grand Start-up Conclave' in Animal Husbandry and Dairy in Hyderabad, gaining media attention through newspaper features and local news channels. In February 2022, Dungwood represented India at the Dubai Expo's Sustainability Week, further highlighting its innovative approach to sustainability. A significant achievement in the project was scaling up the material from an initial size of 40 cm x 40 cm to an impressive 3 ft x 7 ft, marking a crucial step in its development.
The Leather Project, launched as classroom project for LAD batch 2022, involved 15 M.Des students from the Lifestyle Accessory Design (LAD) program, guided by Mr. Amresh Panigrahi, Associate Senior Faculty of LAD. This system design experiment aimed to identify and develop design solutions for the leather sector in India. It was part of the IFLDP Project, a collaboration between the DPIIT, Government of India, and NID, serving as both a knowledge partner and implementing agency.
