The Ohlone College First Year Experience (FYE) is a year-long retention and support program designed for first generation, first time in college students. Through our program, we aim to help students persist through their first year by providing the necessary tools, resources, and mentorship to be successful throughout the program and beyond! You will be part of a learning community which will include English and Personal Development cohort classes.
Starting college may seem like you are entering unfamiliar territory. Through FYE, you will participate in a broad range of opportunities, while establishing a sense of community and connection with other new students on campus. The program includes:
Learning Community
All FYE students will enroll in the same English and Personal Development (PD) class for Fall and Spring.
Counseling
FYE will provide you with academic guidance, career planning, personal support system, and group workshops.
All FYE students get a designated counselor.
Cultural / Enrichment Activities
Attend FREE art, dance, theater, field trips, and team building events
Support
Meet new friends, staff, and instructors who will support you. Student Wellness Ambassadors are here for you also.
As part of our learning community, we will have English and Personal Development students specially design for FYE students. These classes will only be open to FYE students, you are guaranteed a seat!
Your dedicated counselor will help you enroll in your FYE need courses.
You will be enrolled in the following classes:
Mon-Thu: 8:30am - 4:00pm (Closed for lunch 12pm - 1pm)
Fri: Remote/Online Services Only
