This video is a really quick guide to help students turn a google slides presentation into an ebook.
These instructions will help ensure you share items correctly in Google, using a link.
The Google Teacher Centre has a wealth of support for teachers using the Google environment, from beginners to the most advanced among us. Training is video led and easy to stop and start as needed
The PDF explains how to scan from our printers to your Drive. Scanning directly to Drive has advantages over scanning to email. The document or photo that you’re scanning won’t be limited by the file size restrictions email attachments are. It is a lot more reliable than scanning to email. If you’re scanning anything confidential, by scanning directly to your Google Drive, the document is being handled in a more secure way then it would be as an email attachment.
Remember - if you have a question about Classroom there is a dedicated help section in Google.
Copying and archiving classes
Have a look at this page about copying classes for future use (bear in mind it might be better to reuse posts as needed rather than to copy the whole class).
This page offers useful advice about archived classes. Remember, you can unarchive a class and carry on using it e.g. for a GCSE or A Level group.
Note that a new class will automatically be created for the group in the second year though and you would need to archive that one if you carried on with the one from the previous year.

This page offers advice on how to stop, limit, or change sharing permissions in Google docs.
The Google Teacher Centre has a wealth of support for teachers using the Google environment, from beginners to the most advanced among us. Training is modular and easy to stop and start as needed.
Topics include setting up your Drive with folders, sharing files and folders, using the G-suite applications and using Google Calendar.
If you want to share a template for a group and Google Classroom is not the right option, try changing the link address as follows.
Copy the link address when you click 'share' in the document you have created in your Google Drive
Paste the link address in an email (or firefly page etc. wherever you are planning to share from) and change the word 'edit' to 'copy' at the end of the link
This will force anyone using the link to create a copy for themselves.
Following some concerns about how Meet can be accessed by younger pupils, the GDST have made some changes. Specifically, this restricts the access of pupils in Y11 and below. The advice here also looks at the best way to manage Meet for older pupils and for ways to allow younger pupils to meet safely.
Note - to ensure you can always be the host of a meet, you can reset the class link. If you wish to do this, you should hide the link on the landing page of the classroom and just publish the new link once you have logged on.
This video shows a simple way to add breakout rooms in Meet. Note there is an extension for this as well which you might like to try.
When you have created breakout rooms you may need to mute the individual tabs - this extension allows you to do just that!
While most teacher and students have not yet used GC in day to day teaching, this will form the basis of our hybrid and GHL offer in the coming months. Please don't hesitate to get started with your groups. Remember, there are drop-in support sessions and lots of training advice and videos on firefly here.

Google Meet
You can now set a google meet address for each class in google classroom. Just click on the link at the top of the class to set it up - click ‘make visible to students’ and they will see it in the banner for the class. Alternatively, you can just send them the link when you want to start a video call.
There is lots of helpful advice in firefly in the Digacy CPDL pages here.
