Licensure Renewal
The renewal process ensures that North Carolina Continuing Professional License (CPL) educators maintain current professional knowledge and technical competence. The CPL must be renewed every five years on or after April 15 of the year in which the license expires.
When the automatic window opens by the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) between mid-April and early May.
Educators will receive an email notification when their renewal application becomes available in the system.
Log in to vo.licensure.ncpublicschools.gov to complete the renewal process and submit the required fee online.
NHCS will then verify you have met your CEU Requirements for Renewal
Each educator is responsible for knowing and satisfying their license renewal requirements.

To ensure your CEUs are accepted, please follow these steps carefully:
Complete the course(s) through one of the approved providers listed above.
Obtain a certificate of completion for each course.
Have each certificate signed by an administrator (unsigned certificates cannot be approved).
Upload the signed certificate(s) to TalentEd using the External Credit Request Process
