SOS Program Overview:
NHCS provides an additional layer of support to qualifying schools through implementation of the Support on Site Program (SOS). The SOS program focuses on enhancing impact on student growth through teacher development. The structure of the SOS program includes identifying a Lead Mentor to provide monthly targeted professional development sessions for all, as well as individualized mentoring to ensure Beginning Teachers (BTs) have the resources to implement effective teaching practices in their classrooms.
Criteria to have a Lead Mentor and the SOS program implemented at a specific school site are as follows: Secondary schools with at least 10% of certified teaching staff identified as a BT, with a minimum of 8 total BTs.
