What can I do at home to support my child's learning in math?
Practice Fact Fluency: In 4th grade students will use knowledge of their multiplication/division facts 1-12 to help solve more complex problems. Knowing these facts quickly can help build a strong foundation and help students'confidence in math.
Real-World Math: Talk to your students about math that occurs on a daily basis like cooking or baking (fractions & measurement), shopping (adding &subtracting money, decimals, rounding/estimating), and other times when you use math. Having students make connections shows students the importance!
Reviewing Assignments: Go over assignments with students so they can see what they know and how they can improve on future work!Â
What can I do to support my child's learning in ELA?
Encourage students to read books that interest them
Ask students questions comprehension questions about the books they are reading
Encourage students to read different forms of text (brochures, flyers, recipes, etc.)
Encourage students to write stories about things that interest them (stories & topics)
