In your Health Science classes, you will use a citation and writing format called APA. This is the format used for most social and health sciences and is developed by the American Psychological Association. The goal of this guide is to help you format your paper and provide resources for planning and research. Building a knowledge of APA is important not only for your own writing but also so you can read and understand the writings of other scientists.
For further resources, I recommended checking out our BadgerLink and Citation Station research guides.
The most crucial step in writing a strong paper is good research. The main goal of this guide is to help you format your research, ask good questions, and find valid sources for information about your topic. For your research process, you will be using a Research Guide to help you formulate and record your thinking. This will help you to create your outline and, eventually, your finished paper.
There are two types of citations you will have in your paper: in-text and References. In-text citations occur within your paper whenever you quote or reference another work. The References section goes at the end of your paper and lists all the sources you cited in-text.
