Global Goals Week 2022
We will be dedicating the week of 12 to 16 September to acknowledge and highlight the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
These goals are weaved into and embedded in our curriculum, forming the foundation in enabling our learners to become globally responsible citizens.
The Nexus Climbathon is part of our Global Goals Week recognising SDG 11 - Sustainable cities and communities.
This event is intended to raise awareness and support for the charity Pipal Tree. Their continued efforts to improve the education and well being of women and children in rural Nepal, will benefit from our communities' continued support. Along side education, Pipal Tree runs a reforestation project, aiming to generate employment and sustainable tourism in the region. Working with local experts, and providing opportunities for all, the projects aim to enable the communities to become sustainable in their growth and development.
We will have a limited number of ‘treecelet’ bracelets on sale throughout the week. These are made by a group of young deaf women who learnt jewlery making skills, through training offered by Pipal Tree. The proceeds of each ‘treecelet’ will cover the cost of nine saplings in the reforestation project.
All learners throughout the school will be involved in this fundraising event which is being run by a group of IB CAS learners.
So, start setting yourself a personal goal or challenge to support Pipal Tree. Ask friends and family if they would like to sponsor you for the laps that you complete.
If you have any questions, please contact Ms Jo (bevan.jo@nexus.edu.sg)
** DRESS UP OPPORTUNITY**
On Friday, 16 September we will be inviting learners to come dressed as what they want to be when they grow up.
This is linked to Global Goal #4 - Quality Education, as we recognise how fortunate we are to have a safe and friendly environment full of opportunities here at Nexus International School (Singapore).
