This has been United Nations Global Goals week . Five of the UN Global Goals were focused upon, one for each day of the week:
Throughout the week we have had fantastic activities going on to raise awareness of these important issues, ranging from planting seeds in a sustainable vertical garden, to a talk from Nike on sustainable innovation, to our very own Orange Juice Squeezers, to a Food Collection for the needy, to large-scale Dancercise sessions!
Today's activities around the Goal of High Quality Education have been led by Year 12 learners who have been raising money to support a school building project on their upcoming October CAS trip to Cambodia. As you can see from the pictures below, the 'When I Grow Up I Want To Be...' dress-up day was a lot of fun. The coin collection challenge was tense to the very last weigh-in and was won by Year 7. The Market stalls ranged from a Bake Sale to Face Painting to homemade jewellery.
Huge congratulations to Year 12 learners, Ms Bevan for being their guide and to the rest of the IB team for their hard work in supporting today's events.
This will be the last newsletter before Years 7, 8 and 9 go on their overseas service trips in the last week of this term. We wish all the learners and staff well as they embark on their challenging adventures in Malaysia and Indonesia.
We hope you enjoy reading another snap shot of life at Nexus in this newsletter. As usual please do not forget to click through all the tabs!
