NPG

Our Facebook NPG group is a place for all our parents (and other members that are close friends of Nexus) to interact and create a closer community. Please feel free to post questions, reminders or any related comments. Please do refrain from lodging sales posts, we do have the second-hand buy-and-sell group for these posts or advertising your business. UPCOMING EVENTS: We have two NPG-organised coffee morning seminars coming up.

Nourishing Your Legacy, 24 April, 8:45am NPG Lounge

Presented by “The Green Girl”, Nexus parent Adriana Dimitrova, this seminar will focus on nourishing the body and mind of the growing child: gut health, tips to replace processed food with nourishing options, the importance of organic and the million-dollar question regarding feeding difficult little ones – how to include more vegetables in their diets.

Relocation and Repatriation Relocation, May (date TBC), 8:45am NPG Lounge

Are you relocating or going home? What is “home”? Are you stressed about it? Well, the easy solution is to stay in Singapore with us! But if that’s not on the cards, this coffee morning seminar is for you. Nexus parent Mel Syers has been conducting presentations to members of various expat organisations on the aspects involved in repatriation and moving on from Singapore for years. She works closely with many of the International Schools in Singapore discussing various aspects, including: the psychological aspects of moving for you and your family, how to choose the right international mover, what you can and can’t take with you to various overseas destinations, a planning timeline.

NEXFEST

Nexus International School hosted its inaugural family festival, NexFest on Friday night. With great anticipation during the lead-up, NexFest proved a huge success. Full credit must go to head of marketing, Monique Retief who worked tirelessly on the project for the preceding few months. Monique oversaw the production of the festival and did an amazing job. Open to both the Nexus and the wider community, guests enjoyed free-of-charge admission, market charity stalls, festival food, live entertainment on the main stage, pool games, and a picnic atmosphere on the field. Feedback from parents has been highly positive and from learners, exceptional. It was a real feel good afternoon and evening! In its role as equal and independent representative of the parents, the NPG will be meeting with the School to provide its constructive feedback, particularly with reference to the schedule slide, to help make NexFest even better next year. Please pop into the NPG and see me or any of the team or shoot us an email with any feedback to pass on to the School for next. We are already looking forward to next year!

Happy Easter and enjoy the long weekend everybody!

About the NPG:

One of our School’s unique pillars is what many parents and staff describe as a special community spirit.

The NPG serves dual purposes within our community. Firstly, to provide parents with a platform through which to start conversations and provide feedback to the School – to be “a voice of the School community”. Secondly, to offer a range of great social, cultural and special interest events. We welcome all volunteers to join our vibrant and diverse committee, with the main aim of maintaining an inclusive NPG where all ideas are considered valuable.

Warmest wishes,

Simon Hyett, President: Nexus Parent Group
