Next week is the last week of our Season 2 CCAs. Please note that all off-site CCAs have been cancelled in light of the new regulations with regards to the Coronavirus outbreak. As such, the following CCAs will not run:
Season 3 of CCAs will start on 1 March and run for 9 weeks, until 15 May. You will receive an email when sign ups are open with a link to the CCAs Booklet the week after Season 2 ends.
Please note that as Season 3 starts within Term 3 and we are still taking the necessary precautions against the virus, the following CCAs will not run:
Please may we remind families that the campus is not open before 8am.
Please may we remind families that ALL learners who arrive late must sign in with Learner Services (opposite the Eco Cafe) before they make their way to class. Please be mindful that to reach classes on time for registration (8.25am) learners ideally need to be on site NO LATER than 8.20am.
As a parent please ensure that you are wearing your identification at all times and ask any guardians/helpers to do the same.
This is broadly a copy of the text sent to parents on 5 February. We await further guidance from the MOE and MOH and are maintaining close communication with our colleagues in other international schools across Singapore.
We are continuing to monitor the Coronavirus situation. As you may be aware, the Ministry of Health (MOH) has announced person-to-person transmission of the virus in Singapore has occurred. As such, the Ministry of Education (MOE) has issued new guidance. We have reviewed our procedures in light of this guidance and we wish to share with you the following updates to our procedures in school.
Events that involve large gatherings on campus will be suspended for the remainder of this term. This means that we have suspended:
In addition, Nexus will not be taking part in any external multi-school events for this term, this includes ACSIS sports tournaments, matches, swim meets and the Upper Primary ISTA Drama Festival. We will continue with internal school-based sports training.
Our ECAs and CCAs are not conducted in large groups. Therefore, all school based ECAs and CCAs will continue. Some specific offsite CCAs will be cancelled. Parents will be contacted directly if this is the case.
For the whole school, no day trips, residential trips or overseas activities will take place for Term 3 unless the guidelines change. This includes the Year 6 Residential and the IBDP trip to Guam. We are currently exploring what refunds may be available.
At the end of February, for all trips that have been suspended we will review the situation with our travel partners and establish the feasibility of these trips taking place in Term 4. We will inform parents at the end of this term.
We will continue daily temperature checks for all Nursery to Year 2 learners. Our snack and lunchtimes in school are staggered across our two cafeterias and each year group is sat in designated spaces to limit the interactions across year groups.
These decisions are subject to the advice we are receiving from MOE, MOH, WHO and CPE. Should there be any changes, we will revisit our decisions and keep you informed.
Again, thank you for your ongoing support. This continues to be a challenging time for our community and the Singapore community as a whole. We will continue to make sure that disruption to the education of your child(ren) is kept to a minimum, whilst making sure our community is safe. Of course, we respect any decision you make as a family which you feel is appropriate for your child/ren.
