In challenging times I am always struck by the ability of our community to come together in such a positive way. We have tried to keep as many events and activities as possible in the last two weeks but, following the Ministry Of Education (MOE) advice, we had to reduce the breadth of our engagement a few days ago as community spread was identified in Singapore. However, we are still very much fully operational and it has been impressive to see the learners' response - from the noticeable increase in hand washing to the respectful use of spaces on rotation. I would also like to thank all of our parents and guardians for their understanding at this time. We look forward to the clearing of the Coronavirus as soon as possible but for now this newsletter is shorter than usual!
At the time of writing we have postponed a number of events for the rest of this term. For next week we will not have the Y11/13 Parents Evening which will be replaced by a written report. Similarly the Y7-9 Sports Day is postponed.
In other news, there is a terrific Art Exhibition in the Level 2 Entry Atrium which has added such colour and warmth to our new building. It is interesting to see how people use the new spaces around the school, furnish and decorate them accordingly and find their new ways of working. Please see some more photographs here.
Please also view the Sports Page as there is news of a terrific sporting achievement - the U14 Girls Volleyball Team are ACSIS Division 1 Champions! This is an outstanding achievement for the girls. I would also like to pay tribute to Mr Moriarty who has worked for many years to achieve this goal - all those extra practices during the week and on Saturday mornings have paid off! Congratulations!
The Year 11 and 13 Trial Exams ended last week with the final English and Art examinations. The learners have done really well and have received detailed feedback from teachers. These learners now have a tight focus for the remaining three months as the final examination session begins to loom large.
Please continue to maintain good hygiene practices with your children; it is everyone's responsibility.
