Dear Parents
I hope you are all well and that any preparations for the Lunar New Year are going well. I have been enjoying spending time in different learning areas during these last two weeks as part of our learning walks. It has been an absolute privilege to see the strong learning focused relationships between learners and staff and to hear our learners explain what they are learning and why they are learning it . We have been impressed by how articulate the learners have been about the skills they are developing and how they understand when they are learning well. They can clearly identify how their teachers support them and appreciate the focus on developing the skills for learning so they can become more autonomous. These learning walks have certainly been an affirmation that we have great learner - teacher relationships at Nexus and learners trust the guidance that is being provided for them and they feel secure in their learning.
Understanding and celebrating success in all its forms is important within our community. I will be meeting with some of our Y11 and Y13 learners to discuss their success in the recent trial examinations. Yet again our Nexus learners have proved that with consistent application they can reach their goals. Learners can make about a level or grades improvement between now and the final exams if they apply themselves consistently. We will be showcasing different learners in a new section of the newsletter "celebrating our learners" please read on to find out more. You can also see what has been happening in our recent events.
We know many of you have been concerned about the amount of things learners carry. We have listened to your feedback and have been through the procurement process needed to order lockers. We hope to have these in April. As you know supply chains have been affected by the pandemic and everything takes a little longer. Please rest assured we are on the case.
May I take the opportunity to wish you all Happy Lunar New Year next week.
春节快乐
Best wishes
