It was very exciting to have the Secondary Choir plus vocal soloists from across the school, including 3 from Primary. I have to admit I got the nerves sometimes as this is our first real live choir concert for 2.5 years!
We have battled through having to sing with masks on, our choir limited to 20 learners only, another singing ban, lockdown again, singing 3 metres apart and finally last all restrictions lifted. It felt wonderful to be mask less and singing our hearts out to our family and friends in the audience.
It was a wonderful evening bursting with talent combining traditional nursery rhymes such as 'This Old Man' to Disney classics, traditional French songs and much much more. Thank you to our wonderful tech team who helped us sound amazing and put together a video for us to share with our NEXUS community.

Year 9 Science Learning Exhibition on Green Transport
Year 9 Learners were tasked to research greener forms of transportation in land sea and air and demonstrate their understanding by building a working prototype or model of the technology involved. By doing so, they were able to practice a range of model making skills learned over the course of their science studies, while also gaining a deeper appreciation for the impacts of science.
Learners presented their prototype along with video/infographic explanations of the models in a Learning Exhibition last Friday, 22nd of April, during Earth day. Excited learners, staff and parents viewed the displays and offered encouraging feedback to the presenters. It was a wonderful atmosphere of shared learning and really showcased learner ingenuity. The groups that were most successful in terms of Design, Innovation, Creativity, Presentation, as well as R.E.C.I.P.E were given awards at the end of the Exhibition:
Excellence in Design: Earthbotic was a solar powered bus designed by Maria Fernandez and Leonor Silva
Honorable Mention in Design: Solar Powered Boat modelled by Nicole Kratsov, Scarlett Lane, Georgie Lanzone
Excellence in Innovation: Skytran Maglev Railway modelled by Danyil Kramchenkov, Ben Dougan, Tomas Camacho
Honorable Mention in Innovation: HYPEReon designed by Trishan Biswas and Sebastian Lage-Pally
Excellence in Creativity: Emelect, a solar/electric hybrid car sharing transport system designed by Maya Ishizaki and Mikoto Nakao
Honorable Mention in Creativity: The Peddler - electric transport designed by Tirion Dannert, Lina Bridaa, Sophie Fleming
Excellence in Presentation: Hydrogen fueled Aircraft modelled by Tilda Philpott, Leonore Lebard, Isabel Jefferson
Honorable Mention in Presentation: Plug-in Hybrids presented by Alex Foo, Lucas Taylor, Lochie Donaldson
Excellence in R.E.C.I.P.E: The Baar, an amphibious hybrid bus designed by Alice Adeney, Molli Moss and Orla Stark
Honorable Mention in R.E.C.I.P.E: The Hydrogen Car modelled by Rita Cupido and Shayna Tan
The Overall Excellence in the Green Transport Project Award went to Trishan Biswas and Sebastian Lage-Pally, who designed and modelled an underwater maglev cargo transport system they dubbed the HYPEReon! Read more about their experience in the Nexus Times.
Special thanks go out to our judges for the event: Ed Bailey (Design), Alex Barrett (Science), Jozef Bendik (Science), Anne Cain (LAL Science), Aysha Guller (BML), Stephanie Hughes (HPE), Rohit Kishor (Science), Meher Verghese (ART), Patricia Vlad (Maths), and to all the staff and parents who came to support our learners!
