Dear Parents and Guardians
Thank you to all of you who have supported our accreditation and Book Week this week and the Green Transport event last week. The story telling room looked amazing and wowed many of our learners, your stories of how books had changed your life were inspirational. The creativity of dress up showed the diversity of reading across the Nexus community and there has been a real buzz on campus as we are finally able to ease restrictions and collaborate more with families and visitors. You will know how important reading is to us all from our previous newsletters.
The accreditation process has been incredibly productive. The self-study we completed as a community has been used by the evaluating teams to ask us insightful and probing questions; helping us reflect on all that has been achieved and what our ambitions for the future are. It has been wonderful to have peers from around the world look at all aspects of what we do in school, talking with staff, learners and parents and then reflecting back some of their findings each day. As a Head of School there is nothing better to hear than our learners not only feel they are learning and are well supported by teachers but are having fun and feel safe coming to school each day. Once we have the full documented reports we will share these with the Nexus community.
Our learners continue to showcase their talent and passion and I encourage you to read on to see the highlights from the Green Transport exhibition and Vocal Concert. We are all looking forward to Nexus Beats next week and with trips starting up again and restrictions easing there are many exciting things our learners can get involved with. Please read on to upcoming events and make sure your child reads the Learner Bulletin and checks their emails so they do not miss out on things.
Next week, school is closed on Monday for Labour Day and Tuesday to celebrate Hari Raya. I wish all our Muslim families Selamat Hari Raya, maaf zahir dan batin. We will hold our own celebrations on Friday, 6 May. All learners are invited to wear traditional Muslim dress on that day, such as Baju Kurong, Baju Kebaya or Jubah, Kain Samping and Songkok. Or a 'celebration' outfit of their choice.
I hope you get to enjoy some quality family time over the extended weekend.
Best wishes
Dr Heather
