What a fantastic start to 2020! Our move to the new campus went more smoothly than I can ever have imagined and everyone in our community had a part in that. The learners, staff and parents have all been magnificent in coming together to help the term start so well. Over the last fortnight the teachers and learners have been exploring the massive potential of their new spaces and it was simply wonderful to be able to hold assemblies in our brilliant auditorium this week.
The school was up and running from Day One and we have already hosted many sporting fixtures in our new home over the last fortnight, with a close to 100% success rate. More details can be found on the Sports Page.
Our Junior Achievement Team became Singapore champions on Saturday as they beat all-comers with their powerful presentation which detailed their business model, marketing strategies, sales of their recycled bags and of course the financial data. Their reward is an all-expenses paid trip to Guam in March to represent Singapore! Congratulations to Mr Jim Bevan and of course the whole team. You can read more about this outstanding achievement here.
Our Year 11 and Year 13 learners have been focused on their Trial Exams in the Multipurpose Hall since Day Two of this term. We are pleased to announce that things have gone well and we look forward to welcoming these learners back to class next week.
Wednesday's Welcome Evening was our first major event since opening and we really enjoyed welcoming parents new and old to our new campus to meet teachers in an informal setting. It was great to be part of the discussions over canapés and see the home-school relationships being formed.
Some of our amazing parents have been busy decorating the school over the last week with stunning decorations ahead of today's celebrations. Today, our Chinese teaching team alongside some of our parents offered a range of traditional crafts and activities throughout the day, the culmination of which was the Lion Dance in the Sports Hall this afternoon.
We hope you enjoy the long weekend and absorb yourselves in the wonderful Lunar New Year celebrations in Singapore or beyond. See you on Tuesday.
Gong Xi Fa Cai!
