The whole school has turned into a sea of blue over the last few weeks as uniform shipments have arrived. Thank you again for your patience with the delays in uniform deliveries at the start of the term. We had a very productive meeting with the suppliers who were dealing with issues out of their control (like the typhoon) and some which could have been avoided. They were not expecting so many orders and often multiple orders per family hence some stock running out very quickly. We are very aware that a few sizes are currently not available in some of the clothing items.
The uniform ordering website is now up and running on the Parent Zone of the school website and stock is being replenished. We are planning ahead to make sure we always have plenty of stock available. We are also working on Phase 2 which includes items such as hoodies and hats.
Singapore and surrounding countries can be affected by haze from time to time.
As you may be aware, we have been monitoring the Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) since the start of term. The well-being of all our learners remains our top priority. We will act and react according to the 24 hour PSI Level on the NEA website. In common with the international school community, we have adopted a PSI level of 101 as an actionable threshold, at which point we modify our academic, ECA and CCA programmes. However, we will react during the day if necessary or if observed conditions give us cause for concern. We will also follow the specific directions given by Minister Of Education (MoE). Please do note that poor visibility and smell do not necessarily mean higher particle levels in the air. Poor visibility can be due to many reasons eg: presence of mist, sun reflection, etc.
We have been asked why we use the NEA reading instead of the Air Quality Index (AQI). The NEA themselves provide a good answer to that question here. The AQI relies on the NEA data to make its calculations, but it has a different calculation system.
To help with decision-making for your own family activities, we recommend that you download the NEA app ‘myENV’. It provides useful real-time information on the weather in Singapore, including PSI levels, as well as offering predictions for the next 24 hours.
