On Wednesday 8th June, all learners in Year 7, 8 and 9 will be taking part in a 1.7KM run around the school campus followed by a 275m swim in the pool. We would love as many parents and guardians to join us and support this event.
The races will start at the following times:
Year 7 starts at 9 am
Year 8 starts at 11:30 am
Year 9 starts at 2:30 pm
Parents are invited to watch the event and cheer on the learners from the level 2 walkway. Photography is allowed, however, please do not share any photos of other learners on social media, in particular of learners in their swimwear.
When the learners are not competing, they will be in their classes as usual. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be canceled and the learners will return to their classes.
Please make sure your child/ward has the following:
- suitable swimwear and goggles.
- a House t-shirt (or a t-shirt of that colour).
- their Nexus PE shorts.
- suitable sports shoes for running (Converse, Vans, Nike Air Jordan's etc. are not acceptable).
They will be provided with a swim cap which will be returned to the PHE staff at the end of the event.
Hi everyone, I’m Orla Stark from 9B. I have a disorder called Epilepsy. Epilepsy is a neurological condition that causes abnormal electrical activity in your brain, causing seizures. I’ve been very lucky with my medication and haven’t had a seizure in a few years, however some people aren’t as lucky. I’m very passionate about spreading awareness of this disorder, since a lot of people struggle so badly to live normal lives. The past couple of years, I’ve hosted a day called pj day for epilepsy, and all the money I’ve raised goes straight to epilepsy care group Singapore, a non-profit volunteer-based organization. The first time I did this in 2018, I raised over $1000 and even got the chance to speak at the 25th ECG anniversary gala dinner. It was such an honor and still to this day I remember every detail. On the last day of this term, it would be amazing to see as many of you wear your pjs to support this worthy charity, but don’t forget the 2 dollars. The 2 dollars will really go a long way. I hope to see you on the last day of the school year in your pjs. Have a great day!
