Last month, all learners in years 7 and 8 took part in the UKMT Junior Maths Challenge (JMC). This is a wonderful opportunity for our learners to apply their understanding of mathematics beyond the classroom, in unfamiliar and challenging contexts.
This competition is very well-known internationally. In fact, just under 250 000 learners in the UK and around the world took part this year.
We are delighted to announce that our learners performed very well, with some managing to achieve gold, silver and bronze certificates. Here are our highest achievers:
Year 8 Gold - Zixiang Huang, Cindy Zou, Lucca Noel and Emily Wang.
Year 8 Silver - Aidan Bruce, Ryan Eng, Joshua Enriquez, Taiga Hirashima and Emiliano Orozco.
Year 8 Bronze - Polina Alimzhanova, Valentina Di Salvo, Elliot Havercroft, Oliver Herps, Yeonho Ji, Dora Jiang, Max Kartline, Hyugo Latimer, Navah Lee, Matheus Lopes, Haoming Ma, Katrina Mikelsone, Enzo Ong, Benjamin Sim-Petersen, Masha Solovieva and Sam Tun.
Year 7 Gold - Xiaoer Wang, Leyan Ji and Timmy Fu.
Year 7 Silver - Harry Jin, Brian Lee, Ayush Sinha, Yeonoh Cho and Tony Zhang.
Year 7 Bronze - Jasmine Bhatia, Andrea Glavan, Andrew Hung, Eito Iida, Jesse Jonsson, Soma Kaneko, Rudi Lane, David Laufik, Zoe Li, Freddie McLaughlin, Callum McMurtrie, Peony Ng, Linh Nguyen, Krish Puneet, Sato Shui, Bryan Serlin, Oliver Sykes, Jason Trakakis and Ivienne Wangsawidjaja.
We are very proud of all our learners, their success and their love of mathematics. Congratulations! We can’t wait for next year!
A massive congratulations to the Y11 IELTS learners who recently completed their exam on the 16th April, 2022. For the past two years Anil, Jackson, Mandy, Marco and Yijia have been working tirelessly in and outside of the classroom developing and honing their English skills in preparation for the exam at the British Council. This is an international examination run by Cambridge University in order for learners to demonstrate high levels of English ability. I am happy to report that our Nexus candidates managed to achieve a Competent User average score which signifies that they are able to use and understand fairly complex language, which is a great feat as Second Language English users.
Very proud of your achievement, you’ve earned it!
