Dear Parents and Guardians
I hope you have had a good week. We have been celebrating Inclusion and Diversity this week and enjoying different activities for MADD week (Music, Art, Drama and Dance). With over 55 nationalities of learners our Nexus community is a microcosm of global society and it has been wonderful to see learners taking on new challenges with each other and showing that all important open mindset that we value so much. Do read on to see more of what has been happening. From Mathematical artistic expression to candle making and sing ups there have been opportunities for all to get involved and celebrate diversity across our community.
Thank you to the families and learners who met with our Middle Years Programme consultant Sharon this week. Her visit is an important milestone in our journey towards full authorisation for the three year programme. Having successfully completed candidacy we are eager to move onto authorisation. The MYP builds on from the PYP and introduces more explicit disciplinary learning and academic rigour whilst providing rich learning opportunities for our Year Sevens where they further develop the learner profile and Approaches to Learning skills we all need to be successful learners.
Talking of successful learners, our class of 2022 graduated last Friday in an event that they planned, organised and coordinated. Their speeches showed what wonderful ambassadors they have become and it was moving to hear their fond reflections of their growth at Nexus that was supported by their peers, teachers, guardians and families. Good luck to you all and keep in touch.
In the meantime we are busy preparing the Nexus graduates of the future. We know some of you will be leaving before the end of term. Please check with your child and their teacher that they have completed all their summative assignments before you go so that all reports and transcripts can be completed.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend
Best wishes
Dr Heather
