Upcoming NPG Coffee Morning Workshop:
Tuesday, 4 December: Cultivating the Love of Writing in Children
Claudine Fernandez is the founder of Artistic Strategies Academy, an educational organisation that aims to groom young writers in Singapore through the arts. She will be discussing the different creative and artistic methods and strategies to engage young children in the process of writing. In doing so, they also sharpen their critical thinking skills, their creativity, socio-emotional skills and their reflective abilities. See you there!
Congratulations! To all the amazing Year 6 Students and Faculty on the successful production of the inaugural Nexus Film Festival. More than sixty movies were screened at various locations around the School on Wednesday night, but only once the directors’ and producers’ VIP guests had ventured down the red carpet!
Good luck! To our fabulous swim team and all supporters for FINA 2018 this weekend. We are small school and a small community and our swim team punches above its weight, never failing to make us all proud.
Nexus Aljunied – School of the Future:
The NPG would like to extend its thanks and support to the Senior Leadership Team for a fantastic and exciting overview of the new school in Aljunied (http://aljunied.nexus.edu.sg/) two weeks ago. We encourage all parents to take a day out one weekend to explore the east and all it has to offer. Three Committee members (myself, Monica de Waal and Simone Falcao) are eastern suburbs residents and happy to discuss the East with you. The new school is going to be an industry leader in SEA in so many ways and we are very excited to be involved in this fabulous period of Nexus’ early history.
About the NPG:
One of our School’s unique pillars is what many parents and staff describe as a special community spirit.
The NPG serves two purposes within this community - to provide parents with a platform through which to start conversations with, and provide feedback, to the School – to be “a voice of the School community”, and to provide a range of great social, cultural and special interest events. We welcome all volunteers to join our vibrant and diverse committee, with the main aim of maintaining an inclusive NPG where all ideas are considered valuable.
All parents and helpers are welcome in the NPG Lounge at any time. We love seeing you and finding out how your week is going. Please respect the space and ask your child to keep volumes down and tidy up the toys that they use before leaving.
Warmest wishes,
Simon Hyett
