I would like to thank all learners who participated in the Percussion and Drumming Workshops last week. It was our pleasure to host Artists in Residence Andy Gleadhill over 2 days. The workshops he held in the Primary school for years 3, 4, and 6 were filled with energy and inspired our learners through African and Latin American Drumming styles. The concepts linked with the current UOI’s and learners were left excited and upbeat about music making. The year 8’s consolidated last terms learning with a Samba workshop and the IGCSE and IB worked on a range of creating activities using a range of instrumentation.

Save the date! If you haven’t spotted on the calendar yet our annual Carols by Candlelight will take place on Wednesday 12 December after the Nexus Christmas Fair. The Primary and Secondary Choirs, Secondary Orchestra, Chamber Choir and Guitar Ensemble will be performing a selection of Christmas songs and accompanying some community sing-a-longs!
We hope you will be able to attend either the 5pm or 6.15pm performances, feel free to bring along your family and friends and join in with the festive cheer.
All of our current IB and IGCSE learners attended an introductory workshop on the Indonesian Gamelan at Tanglin Trust School on Tuesday 13th November. Knowledge of world music is integral to both the IB and IGCSE Music syllabi, and our learners were able to experience a valuable and very practical session led by Mr Richie Baxter. A very enjoyable time was had by all.
Just a reminder to add to your calendar next week’s Aureus Music Recital on Thursday 22 November 6.30pm in the Auditorium.
