The recent Year 12 trip to Cambodia was a stunning success. A new location for the school, Cambodia provided an incredible opportunity for learners to embed with a local community, living in home-stays and sharing every aspect of life with a local community. The Year 12 learners constructed a netball court for a local school and were involved in leading music and craft activities with local children. Please read the full report here.
Even though last week was only three days long much was packed in, ranging from Drumming Workshops with an international expert to wonderful swimming success at the weekend. More than 20 of our very own staff spent last Saturday in school to ensure their First Aid Certificates were current and renewed.
Next week's Careers Wheel Expo is a learner-led initiative and will be the first of its type. Over 25 of our wonderful parents are coming to school to talk with learners about their careers and what their jobs actually involve. Learners have put together a list of questions that they would like to ask and it should be a lovely event for all Secondary learners.
We wish all our World Cup Swimmers every success in the FINA World Championships tonight and tomorrow. Our team had their appetites whetted by Tuesday's outstanding session with four visiting World Cup Swimmers at the Nexus poolside and learned so much for the question and answer sessions. We are proud to be hosting the Wave 2 Swim Gala next Friday afternoon which should be another outstanding event for our whole community.
Also happening next weekend is our inaugural participation in the British International School of Phuket's Soccer 7s tournament and we wish all participants an enjoyable couple of days.
I am sorry to say that a merry band of staff, myself included, have once again taken on the Movember challenge. The itch has well and truly set in, but it is all for a good cause: Men's Health and Cancer Awareness. Please excuse our scratching for another two weeks!
Please remember that the CCA Portal is open for Season 2 selections. See here for more details.
Have a good weekend,
Peter Hart, Head of Secondary
