I am pleased to say that we are hopeful that our music ensembles will be up and running after the holidays once restrictions have eased. We will be planning concerts too!
IGCSE Y10 Musicians
Despite restrictions our Y10 musicians were still able to perform as part of their assessments this term. We had to follow COVID-19 guidelines and there was no audience however we thought we would share a couple of performances with you. Click on the names below.
This year IGCSE music has been hugely popular and we have had to expand into 2 classes. It is amazing that our learners are so eager to be involved in music and are wanting to study music at a deeper level.
IGCSE Song Writing Workshop with Roo Piggot
We were pleased to once again welcome Roo Piggot professional music producer into school to run a Logic pro focused Songwriting workshop. Roo specialises in songwriting, composition, music tech and music production; working with recording artists in LA and Singapore. The intention was to give our learners time to expand their skills and really hone in on using Logic Pro when creating in an intensive session so we can begin to use Logic Pro.
Roo has almost 30 years of experience in the music industry. He is the founding CEO of the music production and education company Songwork International. Roo and his team have produced, promoted, released, written songs with, and published many high-profile acts around the world, including Radiohead, Arctic Monkeys, John Mayer, Billy Ray Cyrus, Guns N’ Roses, Sum 41, Snow Patrol and many more.
Roo has delivered composition workshops at Nexus on numerous occasions, in 2018, 2019 and 2021. It is great to have him back with us. He has also visited many schools across Asia such as Dulwich, Tanglin Trust and the British Schools.
