Thank you to all learners involved, the result is simply stunning.

Li Min Chen (Year 10) involved in Singapore National Youth Volleyball Team trial

A huge congratulations to Li Min Chen who, through hard work on the Volleyball court, earned herself a trial for the Singapore National Youth Volleyball Team on Saturday 30 September. Having just turned 15 years of age, Li Min is now eligible to push her skills to the next level in Volleyball and hopefully one day, we will see her representing Singapore. All the best.

U19 Volleyball team compete strongly at UWC Dragons International Volleyball Tournament

Our U19 Girls Volleyball were involved in a busy weekend of Volleyball at the UWC Dragons Volleyball Invitational Tournament on Friday 29 September and all day Saturday 30 September. Five games over a 24 hour period was a true test for the girls against some of the best Volleyball schools in South East Asia. Highlights were a stunning 3-0 win against tournament hosts UWC East, and a 2hr 20min epic match against Taipei European School which we lost in the fifth and final set 13-15. Participating schools were - Singapore American School, Shrewsbury Int. School Bangkok, Stamford American Int. School, UWC East, Taipei European Int. School, UWC Dover and Nexus Int. School. A huge thanks to Ms Meher Verghese for all of her positive support over the weekend and helping during matches being the ‘ball girl’.

U19 Boys Football team keep matches close

The boys have had a busy week with two games in the past few days. Every match in the competition so far has been very close and the lads have played exceptionally competitive football. On Monday, against ISS, we played some sound tactical football but were unlucky to come up short. The team was down 3-0 but fought back with a brilliant goal from Dez off a set piece and another cracker of a goal from Pablo near the end. However, we could not get the final goal to even things off, so fell 3-2. On Wednesday, we were back in action against a strong and fast ICS team. Unfortunately, the boys were never able to get the advantage and lost by a score of 5-2. The team has shown amazing development and sound ball skills and could very easily be standing at 4 wins and 1 loss as opposed to 1 win and 4 losses. There will be one more game after the break to wrap up the season.

12&U Netballers remain unbeaten and on target for a gold showdown with UWC Dover

The girls are training hard, listening to feedback and making changes to improve their fitness and netball skills. The team spirit and competitiveness is fantastic. Our winning streak has continued this week with another win against Dulwich College Singapore, 21-4. The girls had another spectacular game with their tight defence, solid attacking, and accuracy in the shooting circle.

Other results:

  • beat Dover Court Int. School, 24-1
  • beat Canadian Int. School - Tanjong Katong, 18-1
  • beat St Josephs Institution International, 25-3
  • beat Tanglin Trust School, 24-2

14&U Girls Badminton team continue to shine in ACSIS league

The girls have had an amazing season. Their division is incredibly competitive and this year, the teams have been very closely matched. During their away match against Tanglin, the girls suffered a narrow defeat. Excellent singles performances and some very close doubles matches meant the coaches were happy with the overall performance. As always, there was plenty of reflection and analysis before the next match. They went into the game against Chatsworth with confidence riding high. Strong performances all round meant a convincing 4-1 win for Nexus. Well done girls!

Swimming - Nexus Invitational Wave 1 & UWC Dover Short Course Meet

The first of three Nexus Invitational Swim Meets was held at Nexus International School (Singapore) on Friday, 22 September. It was an exciting meet with 70 swimmers aged 10 to 16 years, representing UWCSEA Dover, Canadian International School - Lakeside, Australian International School and Nexus International School in distance and Individual Medley events. This 'early season meet' pointed the swimmers in the right direction for a long swimming season.

All teams put in sensational effort into participating in the races and the crowd cheered wildly throughout in support of their school teams. The Nexus Parent Group provided sumptuous bangers, snacks and refreshments, much to the delight of the swimmers and parents.

Many thanks to our amazing HPE Department, staff and swim team parents who volunteered to be marshals and timekeepers. A huge thanks also goes out to all swimmers and coaches for attending this fun-filled meet.

On Saturday, 23 September, we were at it again at the UWC Dover Short Course Meet. The Team of 50 swimmers from Nexus and other international schools were categorised in two divisions based on the time standards. There was an amazing atmosphere, which involved many Personal Bests and medals.
