Casio Open Mic Night

On 27 September the school hosted an Acoustic Open Mic night centred around Casio's brand new Hybrid Piano. The first event of its kind for Nexus, Casio brought their Grand Hybrid Pianos to school and it was a special afternoon with an eclectic range of styles and instruments performed by our Primary and Secondary Learners.

Congratulations to the following talented Secondary musicians who performed:

  • Hannah Feldhausen (Vocals)
  • Tiger Guo (Piano and Vocal)
  • James Richards (Piano)
  • Ekaterina Kuvanova (Vocals and Piano)
  • Kirsty Liu (French Horn)
  • Nanda Nair (Vocals and Piano)
  • Ayra Ali (Vocals)
  • Martin Yong (Guitar)
  • Udit Srivathsan (Piano)
  • Daisy Liu (Clarinet)
  • Amber Wang (Piano)
  • Li Jian (Violin)
  • Doris Zhao (Vocals)

These learners showed an amazing level of commitment to their instrument, preparing for their performances entirely in their own time. We especially enjoyed the duets from Udit and Martin, as well as Nanda and Ayra. The level of musicianship displayed across the age ranges was very impressive, and we were certainly inspired by incredible performances from our IBDP Music learners.

The audience also enjoyed trying out the Grand Hybrid before the concert, along with their popcorn and juice. A huge thanks to Casio for sponsoring this event - the learners were very excited to play the Grand Hybrid and have this opportunity to perform. Thank you also to Mr Fordham, Ms Lambert and Mr Chris, who supported the learners in their performance preparations.
