Attachment types in children

Attachment is a special emotional relationship that involves an exchange of comfort, care, and pleasure. Psychologist John Bowlby devoted extensive research to the concept of attachment, describing it as a "lasting psychological connectedness between human beings."

Bowlby shared the psychoanalytic view that early experiences in childhood are important for influencing development and behavior later in life.

The style of attachment is passed down from generation to generation. Children learn emotional bonding from their parents. Hence, it is crucial to pay attention to how you are comforting your children when they are in distress. This plays a significant role in the child’s future relationships and how they relate and connect with other people.

If you have any concerns about your child's socio-emotional wellbeing in school, please get in touch with your child's teacher.
