From the Head of Primary

Wow! Last weekend was a busy one!

First, my thanks to everyone that joined us for the annual Nexus Beach Clean Up and International Picnic on Saturday. A huge number of families gave up their Saturday morning to take part in a massive clean up opertation on the East Coast. We were rewarded with a delicious pot-luck international picnic.

On Sunday the Singapore ACSIS Track and Field Championships took place at The University of Design & Technology Sport Complex. Our Nexus children were brilliant, continually displaying sportsmanship, friendship, desire and respectful competitiveness. A (very hot!) rewarding day for all. My thanks to all the staff that went along for the day to support our children and to all the parents who gave it all cheering on our fantastic athletes. The squad came away with their largest ever medal haul. In particular, I would like to celebrate Evey's excellence in all her events. Evey won medals in all three of her events; Gold in the 8&U Girls 60m Sprint, Bronze in the 8&U Girls Long Jump and Bronze in the 8&U Girls 600m run. An outstanding individual performance!

On the note of outstanding performances, may I also congratulate Kian, Victor and Claro for performing at 'Nexus Beats IV: The Next Generation'. These three learners were the first band of Primary learners to be invited to join the prestigious Nexus Beats event and showcase their musical talent.

Learning journeys in class have been no less exciting. Do view the 'Recent Events' section to see all that has been going on in the last two weeks. This month is also the Nexus Month of Giving. Please look at the 'Important Notices' section to see how you can take part.

All these wonderful activities and events are made all the more special for the learners with the involvement of parental volunteers. Volunteers are an integral and valued part of the Nexus community and it would not be the same without you! To show our appreciation, we would like to invite all parents that have helped this year (in any way at all) for a coffee/appreciation morning on Thursday, 24 May at 8.30am in the NPG Room. We hope to see you all there!

Finally, may I remind you that on Tuesday next week ( 15 May) we are holding an event to share information about Our New School. If you are interested in coming and haven't yet signed up, please complete the previously emailed sign up form by Monday.

Wishing you all a good weekend.

Paul.
