Over 50 athletes from across the Primary School trained on a weekly basis as part of the wider ACSIS Track and Field squad. Our learners experienced the full range of jumps, throws, sprints, long distance and relay events, as part of their weekly training schedule.
At the ACSIS 8&U/9&U/10&U/11&U Championships, Nexus fielded a strong team across all events. Our athletes achieved their best ever results with an impressive haul of 1 Gold, 3 Silvers and 5 Bronze medals.
Evey Petitjean demonstrated excellence in all her events, by winning medals in all three of her events; Gold in the 8&U Girls 60M Sprint, Bronze in the 8&U Girls Long Jump and Bronze in the 8&U Girls 600m run. An outstanding individual performance.
Our medalists also included: Sergio Canos Cervera - 11&U Boys 80m Sprint - Bronze, Inger Van Oord - 11&U Girls Shot Put - Silver, Nelly Peat - 10&U Girls Ball Throw - Silver, Samuel Liu - 11&U Boys Long Jump - Bronze.
Throughout the season, our athletes have consistently demonstrated their PYP Attitudes and Nexus RECIPE when completing against other schools. The strong team spirit and commendable sportsmanship are a hallmark of Nexus sports teams.

The Nexus 12&U Boys Football team maintained their blistering form in the ACSIS Division 2 league. This week saw the first of two crucial remaining matches played against the Canadian Int. School - Lakeside. With much at stake, the winner continuing their run towards promotion to ACSIS Division 1, we werein for a football treat on home soil.
After a very even start with both teams rattling the woodwork on several occasion, Nexus broke the deadlock with a superb team goal. This provided the momentum Nexus needed as they continued the team pressure throughout the remainder of the match.
The second half saw Nexus play superb team football, creating numerous early chances. The sustained pressure resulted in a further three goal for Nexus, and completed to true team performance against quality opposition. Nexus taking the victory, 4-0.
Focus now shifts to Monday 14 May, where Nexus will travel to the Swiss Club to play the German European School, who are also unbeaten in the league. A huge clash between the two heavy weights. Best of luck to all involved.
Mr. Bevan Moriarty - Director of Sport
The Nexus sports field was green, lush and slightly soft from previous rainfall, making it the ideal pitch for hosting friendly games of 8&U Football. On Tuesday 10 May, all 50 Nexus 8&U footballers were accounted for as they took on Dulwich College, GEMs World Academy and themselves, playing 5 games each.
Although the games were only 8 minutes long, for those out in the four football pitches may have felt like 30 minutes each because of the heat. ‘Boy, was it hot out there!” Between the sun’s rays and the footballer’s determination to score and defend their goals, it was definitely heated. It was great to see the players working really hard, demonstrating their skills and being supportive of one another. Next week will be our last game with 2 teams playing at home and 2 teams playing away. Come catch the Nexus football action!
Well done to all players and thanks to Coach Daniele, Coach Mick, Coach Nisa and Coach Kumar for a great job.
Ms. Yada Mak & Mr. Jim Bevan - 8&U Football Manager
It’s been a frantic but very successful end to the 11&U Cricket season. Between the three squads we have had convincing victories over both Saint Joseph's Institution International and Tanglin Trust School and also taken United World College East Campus to the last ball of the game.
The season concluded yesterday with an absolute cracker of a game where our newest players battled it out against each other in a fitting finale highlighting the level of development that has gone on this season.
We look forward to our final training of the season next week where we will bid farewell to Mr. Hughes. We would like to thank him for his cricket knowledge and the endless supply of ‘dad’ jokes that he has brought to the programme over the last two years. We wish him well for his next chapter.
Mr. Graeme Massey - 11&U Cricket Coach
The Dulwich College (Singapore) Invitational Swim Meet 2018 was held on Friday, 5th May 2018. It was an exciting meet with 65 swimmers from Nexus participating. Our young swimmers aged from 6 to 11 years competed against Dulwich and the Canadian International School - Lakeside Campus.
This meet saw our young swimmers far exceed anything that their coaches had ever imagined possible in the pool. They clearly dominated in the relays and individual events, taking home many ribbons and personal bests.
Every Nexus swimmer participating put in a terrific effort during their races. The crowd cheered wildly throughout the event in support of our team. Well done to everyone who participated, the standard this year was a vast improvement from last year at the same event. A special thank you to our Nexus parents for their support at the meet.
Ms. Larisa Mogutova - Nexus Swimming Coach
11&U Netball were back on form on Thursday winning against TTS, 7-1 and having a tight draw against AIS, 3-3. They had learnt from errors made in the previous few rounds and were starting to play as a unit and think about the game. We are now excited for the finals on Saturday where we will be playing against 6 teams in a round robin tournament to decide the ACSIS Div 2 champions.
