Nursery Visit to SOTA

On Thursday, our youngest learners visited Singapore School of the Arts to see a performance of 'The Way Back Home' by Oliver Jeffers. The story is about a boy and an alien who meet in outer space and help one another to find their way back home. The children loved the performance and the fabulous costumes.

Kindergarten Visit to Jacob Ballas Children's Garden

The learners had a wonderful field trip to Jacob Ballas Children's Garden on Tuesday. They went on an adventure around the gardens, trying different activities and exploring places they had not seen before within the gardens. As they walked around, children drew on the knowledge of their senses to talk about what they could smell and feel as well as what they could see.

Year 3 Trip to the National Art Gallery

At the National Art Gallery our Year 3 learners discovered more about Singapore's cultural history through looking at art artworks. They participated in workshops in which they learned how to look at a painting or installation in depth, reflecting on the mood and the message that the artist is trying to communicate. We looked for evidence of the different cultures of the groups that originally migrated to Singapore in the 19th century and how this impacts the culture of Singapore today.

Year 6 - HMS ENTERPRISE

As part of Global Goals Week - Gender Equality, our Year 6 girls were given a wonderful opportunity from a parent in our school who works for the British Department of Defence in Singapore. We were offered a tour of the HMS ENTERPRISE, which is a Royal Navy hydrographic survey ship which was docked in Singapore throughout the week. Our learners were give the opportunity to meet with women who have decided to embark on careers in science, engineering and the military. A wonderful experience for everyone involved.

Year 3 Residential Trip to Sembawang

This week a very excited (and slightly nervous) group of 85 Year 3 learners headed off on their residential trip to 'Camp Challenge' in the north of Singapore. For most, this was their first residential trip experience. The purpose of the trip was to develop our teamwork skills in group situations and develop independence, self-management skills, resilience and confidence in ourselves. Rock climbing, strategy games, raft building, team designing and presenting song and dance routines around the camp fire gave opportunities for personal growth and lots of fun!

We will share lots more wonderful photos with the Year 3 families soon.
